Rote Raben: A volleyball team who has never lost its grip

Sports overview

The sport volleyball in the charming town Vilsbiburg has a long tradition. From these modest beginnings a volleyball department has been built by a handful of volleyball enthusiasts, which had already been done in the 80s made it into the first volleyball league; Vilsbiburg exclusively with home-grown. After a brief dry spell began in the 90s then the reconstruction and in 2001 it was again reached in the first division. This has remained until today. The best results were achieved in seasons 2007/2008 and 2009/2010. Both times, Rote Raben finished as German Champion the Bundesliga season.
Eight teenage boys volleyball enthusiasts have come together under the auspices of Ekkehard Wetzel and on 2 October 1971, the Department established, then called "Turn Games" in TSV, and later in Division Volleyball TSV. First Division leader was Elmar Stafford, who was replaced two years later by Franz Schober. In 1971, the performances were taken with a men's team in the district league. In 1972 a women's team was added, which rose up in the same country League South. In the third year they managed to move up to the Bayern Football League, where she was without point loss Bavarian champion and was able to advance to the regional league. After ten years of club history, namely 1981, the rise of women succeeded in the first division. A reporter from the Süddeutsche Zeitung, described back then the ascent is not without that, a note of caution, some sense of superiority, which the city slickers "provincials" and certainly a lower Bavarian town over lay of the day and brought this same poetic in the heading to the expression: "When Gulliver traveling is ....." The team played Vilsbiburg then nine years in the first volleyball league. In that time - in April 1987 - parted the volleyball Division of TSV Vilsbiburg and became an independent association.
1995, the ladies were back to slid into the district league, Klaus-Peter Jung-Kronseder the helm at the Vilsbiburg Volleyball Association. One of his main concerns was the beginning of the establishment and development of youth teams. Through concept, it brought the volleyball players in the peak years to 23 youth teams. True to the motto "If doing something, right!" the management team with young Kronseder at the top but they quickly oriented towards competitive sport. What followed was the passage of the ladies of the country in the Bundesliga and the continuous development of one of the largest junior volleyball clubs in Germany. The volleyball fever caused him to this day not let go. In November 1998 - at that time they were playing in the second division - the Vilsbiburg volleyball players went back a new path. They named in Rote Raben Vilsbiburg to and provided with an attractive program that every home game Rote Raben to a social event was. A path that many others have now taken the Bundesliga as well.
Yet Rote Raben put not taking high flight and not lose the grip. Thanks to sound fiscal policy, they developed step by step and have worked in the German Volleyball scene a pleasant sounding name. Under coach Michael Schöps managed the team twice - 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 - to fight for the runner-up title. The coronation was in the season 2007/2008, Guillermo Gallardo, who led Rote Raben in his first season as Rote Raben-coach the championship title. This past season, the Red Ravens have then reloading it again: For the first time in club history they grabbed her before about 9,000 spectators at the Gerry Weber Stadium, the DVV Cup. In a dramatic final, they defeated the Dresdner SC 3-2. In addition, they were in the CEV Cup in the top four in the Bundesliga and missed only just defending the title, in the end they have had to place two "satisfied".
They continue to rely on an intensive youth work to enable their own plants made it into the top German league. In the 2006/2007 season, another milestone has been created: The second team managed to climb in the second Bundesliga South. With their coach Werner Neumeier they finished in the first season a respectable midfield place. Here, the young talents of Rote Raben the opportunity to work slowly to the level of the first Bundesliga approach.
Also for the coming season, Rote Raben have made to play a good role again in the Bundesliga. Coach Jorge Munari wants to use his expertise to help ensure that Rote Raben in the second team still have a training team that calls the young ravens, and encourages them to become fit for the Premier League.
This is of course also Guillermo Gallardo's aim, coach of the Bundesliga-team. He has to cope with this season of drastic changes. Katja Wühler ended her active sports career and has worked since July 2010 in the Rote Raben-office. Ioana Nemtanu, Sheila Shaw and Yamila Nizetich have left the club. Now the newcomers Joan Barg, Magda Kralikova (both VC Wiesbaden), Tatjana Zautys, Sarka Barborkova (both Allianz Volley Stuttgart) and Natalia Korobkova (Karsyaka Izmir) help to write the success story of Rote Raben on.
